This twenty-four-page artist book sculpture is made entirely of handmade paper. The title comes from the delight sparked by the touch of the hand. Paging through the book is a bibliomantic guide to living. Each reader will find their own meaning; each reading will be unique. Two bookmarks are inserted that mark a space for reflection and learning, but do not mark time or place. One is made of flax and recycled berry boxes and painted with watercolor. The other is made of recycled schedule paper from 2020. The book cover, to call it by a traditional bookish term, is made of onion skins. The 24 pages are made from six pieces of handmade paper including: abaca, sisal, cotton rag, earth pigments, purged journal pages, blouse and other scraps, and are bound with kakishibu-dyed sashiko thread. The book is approximately 9" long x 8" wide x 3.5" high. The pages are approximately 3" x 4.5" each. This piece was included in "Pulp to Pages" at Anderson Academic Commons, University of Denver, in Fall 2024.
