Handmade Paper

Stephanie Damoff

I am drawn to making paper because of the ability to transform common materials--such as discarded paper, garden waste, invasive plants--into blank sheets or paper compositions. It is a thoroughly plastic process that results in a material that can be further transformed in the creative process.

Sedimentation

The textures of the earth. Core samples in handmade paper. Handmade paper piece with pigmented flax (earth pigments), cotton bedsheet, banana, and bleached kozo fibers. Sedimentation was selected for the 12th Annual Juried Exhibition—"New Terrain"—at the Morgan Papermaking Conservatory in 2024." Approximately 11" x 14"". 2023
